Spiritual Connections

Loving God,

We lift our hearts to You.

Behold, you make echoes in our hearts:

“I make all things new!”

Renew our lives, cleans our spirits, and guide us with Your love.

In Your loving transformation, may we find strength, hope, and everlasting joy.

Amen.

Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Mass – Founders Day

On Friday 7th June, Sacred Heart celebrated our feast day. This day is also known as Founders Day, which falls on the Feast of the Sacred Heart. It was a great opportunity to learn more about the Mercy Tradition of our school as well as celebrate what makes our school a great place to be.

The day began with a beautiful whole school Mass in the church led by Fr Uday. We were blessed to have Sr Pam and Sr Eileen join us for the liturgy, taking part bringing up the gifts at offertory. Sr Pam and Sr Eileen are both religious sisters in the Mercy Order.

Traditionally, as a part of this Feast Day, we support the work of the Society of St Vincent de Paul by donating food and other items to be distributed to those in need in our community. A huge thankyou to all in our community for your generous support of our food collection. Our donations were gratefully received by Vinnies, especially at this time of year.

After Mass, the children spent time in the classes reflecting on the Mercy values and traditions of our school. Sr Pam and Sr Eileen met with the Senior students and shared their knowledge of Catherine McAuley, Ursula Frayne and Sr Alphonsis Geary with them. In the past, Sr Eileen taught at Sacred Heart and lived at the Mercy Convent across the road. The children enjoyed listening to her share her experiences of being a member of the Sacred Heart community.

The weather was perfect for the sports rotations held in the middle session. This was a great chance for the house groups to come together and participate in games that may have traditionally been played in the past. Egg and spoon race, three-legged race, rock paper scissors hop, quoits and sack races were the order of the day. Well done to the children on their fantastic participation in the day and may the Mercy Values be always present in our community.
