Doncaster Secondary College Visit

Last week we visited Doncaster Secondary College and were treated to a variety of classes including Science, Sport & Cooking. The students loved seeing the familiar faces of past students, and enjoyed a personalised tour of the school from some of our students from last year. This excursion was a great way for everyone to experience what high school might be like.

Enjoy reading some of the students' reflections:

Yesterday, I went to Doncaster secondary collage with my year level. I was quite nervous being in a school where I knew no one. The school was rather large and had a lot of kids walking in and out of classes. We did 2 subjects, science and food tech. I loved food tech, and I had a bunch of fun baking cookies with my friend!

Yesterday we visited DSC. Over there we did some science on electricity. The experiment needed us to unplug a lightbulb while electricity was still running through and I was scared that I was going to be electrocuted. It turns out that I didn’t have to be worried about being electrocuted because the voltage couldn’t touch my hand and was too low of a voltage.

Going to Doncaster Secondary College was a really fun experience. At first I was nervous that our class would not get baking, but as it came out, we were the only class who did it! We did science and a tour as well as the baking and I strongly enjoyed it.

Going to Doncaster Secondary college was amazing! During the PE lesson we played so many fungames. There was one game were we needed to grab the cone before our opponent did, duringthat a friend and I both grabbed onto the cone at the same time and accidentally ripped the cone.Another game was called Mat and Ball which was sort of like netball. I remember running up and down the courts 1000 times, it was so tiring but also so fun! Overall I enjoyed visiting DSC.

On the 18 June we went to Doncaster Secondary Collage. What I enjoyed most was the science and technology lesson and we learnt about electrical circuits. It was very tricky but very fun.

On Tuesday 18th of June we went to Doncaster Secondary College and experienced how high school would be. We first went on the bus and travelled to the school, we had a school tour by Ben and Andrew. Then we had recess, ate our snack and played with our friends. Next we were off to our classes, we had science class and we played around with electricity. We were tasked to observe the different types of volts and the different kinds of set ups. We now had P.E, we did some warm up games eg. Rats and Rabbits and then it was time for the main game called bench ball. It’s a game where you had to pass the ball up to the bench to join the players in there.  It was so fun and exciting to experience high school, I loved it and I can’t wait to go to high school.

World Expo

On Tuesday, all students in Grade 5 and 6 presented their Integrated work that they have worked long and hard on, during Term 2, during the bi-annual World Expo.

Throughout the term, students have learnt about a particular country, and have studied the mapping of the country, the landmarks, the celebrations, the leisure activities and numerous other things, and presented their work in their own unique ways. Displays were set up on Monday afternoon, and some groups dressed up, some groups had giveaways and competitions, but most importantly all groups demonstrated a keen interest and a lot of knowledge about their chosen country.

All classes from DPS came and visited in allocated time slots, and it was fantastic to see so many smiling faces during the expo. At 3pm, family and friends were invited to visit, and groups were able to present their work to their parents.
