Strings and Orchestra Evening Concert - Friday 21 June, 2024 - Alexander Hall - 6.00pm

Parents, carers and students are reminded of our Strings and Orchestras concert, on Friday 21 June, featuring our Junior String Ensemble (Yrs 2-4) Junior String Ensemble (Yrs 5-6), Junior String Quartet together with our Dulcie Holland Orchestra, Senior Orchestra, Senior String Quartet, Tango Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra.

Year 3 Excursion to Centennial Parklands - Monday 24 June, 2024

An excursion to Centennial Parklands on Monday 24 June 2024 has been organised for students in Year 3.

Students will travel by bus from Kambala to Centennial Parklands. 

 

On this excursion, students should wear their full sports uniform including their Sports Cap, track pants and Zip Jacket (NO FLEECES - Zip Jacket must be worn over their coloured House Polo shirt). Track suit pants may be worn over sports shorts. Please apply SUNSCREEN prior to coming to school. 

 

Students are to arrive at school by 8.00am for immediate roll call and will leave school at 8:20 am SHARP and return to school at 1:00pm and are required to bring their morning tea and water for the day in their BLACK KAMBALA EXCURSION BAG. 

Please note - NO CANTEEN LUNCH ORDERS ON THIS DAY - all food and water must be brought to school in the morning. Girls can leave their lunches at school and take their water bottles and recess in their BLACK KAMBALA EXCURSION Bags to the excursion.

 

A permission form has already been forwarded to parents.

Band Evening - Alexander Hall - Tuesday 30 July 2024 - 6.00pm

Please save the date for the Band Evening on Tuesday 30 July at 6.00pm in the Alexander Hall.

Ensembles playing in this concert will be: Boambilly Percussion, Intermediate Percussion Ensemble, Junior Percussion Ensemble, Senior Percussion Ensemble, Tivoli Wind Ensemble, Joyce Gibbons Wind Orchestra, Symphonic Winds Orchestra, Kambala Jazz Orchestra, Kambala Big Band, Kambala Stage Band.

Invitation to Parents and Students of Class 5S

We warmly invite our parents/carers and students to meet with Ms Brosnan and our new Year 5S Class Teacher Ms Leanne Clark from 3.30pm to 4.30pm on Tuesday 25 June, 2024 on Tivoli Lawn in readiness for Ms Clark’s commencement in Term 3.

Refreshments will be provided for both our students and parents.

Ms Leanne Clark           

Leanne Clark is an educator with more than 20 years teaching experience, who joins us from AB Paterson College, which is a high performing independent school on the Gold Coast.  She holds a Bachelor of Teaching/Education from Dunedin College of Education.  She is presently completing a Master of Educational Leadership and Learning from Deakin University.  She has held leadership roles as the P-12 Wellbeing Coach and Stage 2 Mathematics Coordinator.  Ms Clark is an advocate of the work of Harvard’s Project Zero Classroom and her referees cite her impressive ability to build strong community relationships and dedication to lifelong learning.

End of Term 2 Church Services - St Michael's Vaucluse - Thursday 27 June, 2024

We appreciate our diversity and take the opportunity to honour our Anglican Heritage.

Girls in Kindergarten - Year 3 will walk up to St Michael’s Church on Thursday 27 June 2024 at 1.30pm to attend end of term church service and out Year 4 - Year 6 girls will walk up at 2.15pm to attend their end of term service.

 

As a mark of respect, girls are to wear full Winter Uniform on the day including Blazers and Panama Hats. If students have a timetabled sports or PE lessons on Friday 27 June they are to bring their sports uniforms in their Kambala Sports bags. 

Year 3 - Year 6 Music Excursion - Conservatorium of Music - Wednesday 24 July, 2024

All students in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be attending a music excursion, Symphonic Encounters, on Wednesday morning 24 July, 2024. This will be a music education presentation by Mr Grandison alongside the Modést Orchestra. 

 

The concert will feature music that highlights the various instruments and sections of the orchestra in a fun and informative way, with moving, singing, and creative activities offering paths into the rich colours, gestures and textures of orchestral music.

 

Students will travel to the Sydney Conservatorium of Music by coach. Please ensure you daughter is at school on time for roll call. We ask all parents to complete the permission slip sent separately prior to Monday 24 June, 2024.

 

All students are to wear full winter uniform including their blazer, panama hat and yellow ribbons.

 

Students are to bring water bottle, and a light recess in their black Kambala excursion bag. 

 

The girls will return to school by 11:30am, and canteen lunch orders are available to be ordered on that day. 

Kindergarten Occupational Therapy Speech Screening - Thursday 1 August 2024

On Thursday 1 August, 2024 Speech Pathologists from Kids Spot Speech Pathology are coming to Kambala to screen our Kindergarten students.  This will occur throughout the day and a summary report will be provided after the tests are conducted.  The cost of this assessment is covered in the school levy.

Year 4 Excursion Eucalypt Forest at the Field of Mars - Thursday 8 August 2024

An excursion to the Eucalypt Forest at the Field of Mars Reserve has been organised for students in Year 4. Students will embark on a bushwalk through the forest, looking at evidence of animals and their interconnection with the environment. Fieldwork tools will include sensory observation, invertebrate hunts and recording through sketching, mapping, watercolour and tallies in a take-home field journal. 

 

Students will travel by bus to and from the Field of Mars Reserve in East Ryde. Students will leave school at 8:45am and return to school at 3:00pm and are asked to bring their own recess, lunch and water bottles with them in their black Kambala excursion bags.

 

Please note no canteen lunches will be available on this date for Year 4. On this excursion, students should wear their full sport uniform, including their hat, house polo, long track pants and zip jacket. Please pack a raincoat in case of inclement weather. Students should apply sunscreen prior to arriving at school.

 

A permission form will be sent for parents to complete on Monday 24 June.

Life Education Incursion, Preparation to Year 2 - 14 and 16 August 2024

Life Education will be visiting Massie House on Wednesday 14 and Friday 16 August 2024. For over 40 years Harold the Giraffe has been the mascot of Life Education.

He works ‘virtually’ in the classroom with the educator, to help encourage conversations with the students about situations they might find themselves in and how to act in a positive way when they do.
