Downball

The talk of the school yard at lunch time this week has been who is going to be the downball king or queen. Competition is fierce and tension is high. On Tuesday the Level 4’s battled it out whilst the Level 3’s slugged it out on Wednesday. The Level 5’s will get their chance next week and then it will culminate with the championship rounds.

Next term we will be heading to Maroondah Nets for Downball Australia Victorian Championships.

More details to come and invitations to the selected children will be sent early next term.

Running Club

Running club is on a Winter hiatus.

We have averaged around 45 students per week but winter numbers have started to drop so after a break we will be back in Spring. It’s been lots of fun and great to see the kids excited about being active, running and playing running games.

Term 3

Lots of activities are in the pipeline for Term 3, including Level 6 Ski Day, Kaboom Sports for Foundation to Level 3, Senior Hoop Time, District Football and TBall competitions, Netball tournaments (Level 5&6), Downball competition and District Athletics. As always, we like to encourage healthy and active lifestyles and provide lots of opportunities for students to be involved.

Level 3 and 4 Hooptime

Level 3 and 4 students had a fantastic day at the State Basketball Centre competing in the Junior Hooptime competition.

All players showed great resilience throughout the day and represented Jells Park Primary School in a fantastic way.

Our All star Girls and All Star Boys 1 team won their competition with some thrilling Grand Final wins. They both progress to the next level in Term 3. Go Jells Park!

Regional Cross Country

Last Thursday, 13 June Jells Park had 3 students competing in the Eastern Metropolitan Region Cross Country Event at Yarra Glen Race Course.

Lacey R and Jasmine K from Level 6 both competed in the Under 12/13 girls 3km even. Both girls gave it their all against roughly 70 other competitors to finish with an impressive ‘middle of the pack’ placings. Congratulations girls on your efforts.

Maggie K from Level 4 competed in the Under 9/10 girls Multi Class division and ran her 2Km extremely well. She finished with a time of 13:30 to finish 2nd in her category. She now gets the opportunity to compete at the State Competition on the 18 July back out at Yarra Glen Race Course.

Congratulations Maggie and best of luck at the state competition.

We will all be cheering you on from school. Thank you to her sister, Miranda who ran with her to guide her on where to run during the competitions.
