Wellbeing - Senior School
I take this opportunity to welcome all students back to the College for Term 3; I trust that the boys and their families enjoyed a restful break.
As always, Term 3 will be a busy ten weeks and boys are encouraged to ensure that they have a clear understanding of when significant College and cohort events are occurring.
Similarly, classroom and homeroom teachers have been advised that they are to be assisting students with preparation of their Term 3 goals. These are to be completed on page 102 of the Student Diary. Parents/carers are encouraged to sit with their son/s to discuss ways that their performances can improve from Semester 1, using feedback from the Parent/Teacher Interviews as a guide.
Many will remember that the parents/carers were invited to participate in a webinar on the issue of online gambling in the latter weeks of Term 2. I have recently received a recording of the webinar for viewing; it can be accessed at: GambleAware Central Sydney - St Patrick's College Strathfield Parents and Carers Webinar (youtube.com).
Parents/carers and students are reminded that an online Student Incident Report link is available on the respective Years 5 to 12 CANVAS pages. The online form allows students to log incidents from home if required, aiding the follow-up process undertaken by Year Coordinators on matters of concern, such as inappropriate behaviour towards students from others. I encourage both parents/carers and students to check the link on the relevant CANVAS page.
Finally, I remind parents/carers that if leave is being considered during Semester 2 then one of the following forms should be completed: ‘Application For Leave From School’ OR ‘Application for Exemption from Attendance at School’.
These forms are available on the College website. Prior to submitting the form, please ensure that the College Calendar is checked for major events [such as the compulsory Annual Speech Night and Prizegiving event in December], along with any scheduled assessments/examination periods or co-curricular commitments. Once the relevant form has been completed, it should be sent to leaverequests@spc.nsw.edu.au and attached in the email.
