Parents and Guardians,

As we approach the end of another successful school term, we reflect on the wonderful achievements and growth we have witnessed among our students. It has been a semester filled with learning, creativity and community spirit.

Our students have excelled across various subjects, demonstrating their dedication to academic excellence. From impressive exam results to innovative class projects, we are proud of their hard work and commitment to learning as reflected in our Thanksgiving Service.

Our Winter recital showcased their talents in art exhibitions, musical performances and literary competitions, highlighting their diverse skills and passions.

Our sports teams have shown tremendous spirit and sportsmanship, achieving notable victories in inter-school competitions.  Please refer to the sport section of the newsletter to read more about our sports teams achievements.

We are delighted by the active participation of our Year 11 students in community service initiatives as part of their Service in Action program. They have shown compassion and a sense of responsibility towards making a positive impact on the world around them.

We congratulate our Year 10 and 11 students for their active participation and efforts in their Senior exams this past week.  We hope the experience was a positive one as they showcase to their teachers their understanding of the Semster’s topics.

The College joined together on Tuesday 25th of June to raise awareness for Breast Cancer with our ‘Wear it Pink’ Day. Students were invited to come dressed up to school in Pink to raise money as part of the Breast Cancer awareness month. It was a fantastic day, enjoyed by both staff and students.

Market Day 13 th of June 2024

Our Year 9 students undertaking the elective ‘Be Your Own Boss’ took part in a Market Day at lunch time. Students were able to finally open shop for the business that they have been working to create and build since the beginning of the year.

Students were given a loan of $20 each, in order to create their business and sell their products. The only catch was, that students were not able to exceed their budget and must return the loan back.

Working in teams, students were required to create a business idea that they would like to sell at our Market Day. From researching, to planning and to creating, our students came up with amazing businesses and were ready to go!

- Smash Shack

- TMS Pretzels

- Heavenly Bites

- Fruit Fusion

- Crepes Café

It was a great learning experience that our students took part in, where they were able to see their business idea come to life. It was incredible to witness stalls booming and selling out by the end of lunch.

Our students’ dedication and hard work paid off, with raising $808.70 to their chosen charity ‘Save the Children’ foundation.

Year 9 - Sovereign Hill: A Journey Back in Time

On the 7th of June, our Year 9 students embarked on an exciting excursion to Sovereign Hill, an open-air museum in Ballarat that brings to life the gold rush era of the 1850s. The trip allowed students to step back in time and experience the rich history of one of Australia’s most significant periods.

One of the highlights of the day was the gold pour demonstration. Students watched in awe as molten gold was poured into a mould to create a gleaming gold bar. This live demonstration not only showcased the incredible craftsmanship of the era but also provided insight into the processes that made gold to be sought-after.

The excitement continued with an underground mine tour, where students descended into the depths of a real gold mine. As they navigated through the dimly lit tunnels students learned about the harsh living and working conditions faced by the miners. The guides shared stories of the miners' daily struggles and the dangers they encountered, painting a vivid picture of life underground during the gold rush.

This hands-on experience was invaluable, allowing students to connect with history in a tangible way. The excursion to Sovereign Hill not only enriched their understanding of the gold rush but also sparked their curiosity about Australia’s past.

Medieval Day

Our Year 8 Medieval Day was a triumphant journey back in time! Students were up and out of their seats, exploring various aspects of Medieval culture. From trying on different types of armour, costumes and helmets, to looking at the weapons used in battle; there was never a dull moment!

It was wonderful to see our Year 8 students immersing themselves in each workshop and bringing history alive!
