Dear Parents,
It's hard to believe it's the end of Term 2! These last months have certainly flown. Whatever your plans are for the holidays, I hope you have a relaxing time filled with family memories.
Next Term Week 1
Monday - First Day of Term 3 for Staff - Staff Development Day
Tuesday - First Day of Term 3 for students
Pyjama/Trixie Fundraiser
Tomorrow is our pyjama day fundraiser for Trixie. Students who choose to wear their pyjamas are asked to donate a gold coin or bring a donation to support Trixie's annual insurance costs. Trixie is a popular staff member whose capacity to calm and comfort students and staff alike continually amazes us. We feel very fortunate to have Trixie on our team. Tomorrow's weather forecast is cold, so choose your warmest pyjamas or trackies. Remember to wear your coat and your joggers, too—no slippers, please.
Thank you, Miss Lloyd and the SRC, for organising the day.
Stage 2 Excursion
On Tuesday, our Stage 2 students visited Sydney to explore the historic precinct around The Rocks. Students became dirt detectives as they dug for artefacts and learned about the area's rich history. It was a long but extremely rewarding day. Thank you, Mr Datt, Miss Reedy, Mrs Woolfe, Miss Solinas, Mr Hayes, Ms Hall, Mr Summerson and Mrs Mooney, for volunteering to supervise the excursion and Mr Datt and Miss Reedy for your organisation.
Lost Property
Numerous puffer jackets with no names are in lost property. The P&C will clean out the lost property box tomorrow. Unnamed clothing will be washed and placed in the clothing pool. If you know your child is missing some winter clothing, please check lost property.
Stage 3
Stage 3 students have been creating PowerPoints about what they learned on their recent Canberra excursion. They have also been reflecting on their favourite aspects of the excursion. Here are a few.
"I really liked learning about voting at the Australian Electoral Commission. I know I can't vote until I'm 18, but I learned that I can enrol to vote when I'm 16. That is exciting!"
"We saw Anthony Albanese. He is the Australian Prime Minister. We got to meet Andrew Gee. He is a really nice man, and I like the fact that he is an Independent. He gets to cross the floor of Parliament when he votes, so he has a lot of power. The Government and the Opposition need his vote."
"My favourite part of the Stage 3 Canberra excursion was Questacon. I loved the big slide and the caged lightning!"
"I really loved the whole trip to Canberra. Everything was interesting, but if I had to choose one thing it would be the Australian War Memorial. I really liked it because it was such a special place"
"I just loved the War Memorial because because of the planes and models. The grave of the unknown soldier. The amount of stories and details in one place. The tour guide"
"It's too hard to pick a favourite because everything was too good! Probably Questacon because it had cool things to do, screens that explained everything and it was interactive"
We believe student learning, wellbeing and success are best when working together. Please do not hesitate to contact the school to discuss any concerns you may have.
