Christian Studies

At Donvale students are invited to embark on an adventure of stepping into God’s story and the part they have to play in it. We encourage students that following Jesus isn’t just a set of beliefs to agree with but a whole life revolution, centered around the character and mission of Jesus. We discover the Bible and culture through learning activities that engage head, heart and hands, while also generating opportunities to experience community and participate in spiritual disciplines that can shape and form young people towards spiritual maturity.
In Year 7 we enjoy a focused exploration of the life, teaching, death and resurrection of Jesus as explored in the Gospel of Mark. Students are invited to participate in Mark’s redemptive story and the surprising announcement that God is not finished with his people. We learn that He has sent Jesus to announce a new Kingdom, God’s Kingdom – a place for all who are humble and repentant, to find freedom, healing and acceptance. The explore through guided Bible readings, express ideas and challenges through journaling and relate to others in community through discussion, active learning tasks and creative responses.
