QGSSSA Autumn Fixtures

The curtain has fallen on the 2025 QGSSSA Autumn Fixtures season and what a finale it was. Our Basketball, Football and Touch Football teams went head-to-head with Brisbane Girls Grammar School in the Reconciliation Round, marking a powerful end to the season amidst driving rain, and fierce sporting spirit.

As our Football and Touch Football teams took to the sodden fields of Fig Tree Pocket, and our Basketball teams laced up at Brisbane Grammar School, there was a shared sense of purpose.

In honour of National Reconciliation Week and this year’s theme, Bridging Now to Next, both venues paused to reflect and recognise the journey toward a more unified future. Players stood side-by-side for Reconciliation Ceremonies that echoed the values of respect, truth-telling, and connection.

Then, it was game on.

From the first whistle to final siren, our teams left everything on the field and court. The conditions were tough, but our purpose didn’t waver. Waterlogged pitches and slippery surfaces couldn’t dull the determination of our Football and Touch football teams. Indoors, our Basketballers matched the intensity, delivering a polished display of teamwork, hustle, and heart.

A special mention goes to our Senior B Basketball team and Senior A Football team, who both closed their seasons on a high recording hard-fought victories against every team they faced.

Over the course of the term, the 2025 Autumn Fixtures campaign has been a masterclass in perseverance. Student-athletes showed up, stood tall, and wore the Clayfield College crest with pride. They endured the highs and lows that define sport, with narrow losses, big wins, early mornings, and late finishes and have emerged better for it.

To our coaches, thank you for shaping more than just how to play the game. Your leadership has built belief, resilience, and strong, connected teams.

To our parents and supporters, your voices from the sidelines have echoed louder than the scoreboard. Thank you!

To every girl who competed this term: thank you. For your fight. For your pride. For reminding us that Clayfield College Sport is about more than just results.

This season ends with the ladders locked in, but the impact. That plays on.

Onward.

Pedal Power Activated

This Friday, Flyn Mantsio, Daniel Gallagher, Alex Frith, and Tom Pain will represent Clayfield College at the Rocky Trail Academy – Schools MTB Racing: Southeast Queensland Round, held at Castle Hill Blackstone Reserve, Blackstone.

With three timed stages and five runs per track, our riders will be tested on endurance, speed, and technical skill, all while chasing podium finishes in their year-level categories and vital points towards the Champion School title.

The event offers the perfect mix of competitive spirit and MTB adventure, with a relaxed, rider-friendly format that encourages pushing limits and finding flow. We’re proud to see our boys taking on this exciting challenge and flying the Clayfield College colours on the trails.

Good luck, riders. Race hard, ride smart, and enjoy every second.

Stay tuned for the results next week.
