Celebrating Reconciliation Week
This week is Reconciliation Week. Our students have engaged in classroom activities and with the wider community in activities that promote understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. This year’s theme, “Bridging now to next,” encourages us to reflect on our shared histories and to take meaningful steps towards a reconciled future.
Understanding Reconciliation Week
Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements. It is a chance to reflect on the past and to build respectful relationships moving forward. At Eglinton, we recognise the importance of this week in fostering a sense of unity and respect among all members of our school community.
Junior AECG meeting - this week our AECG student representatives attended the Junior AECG meeting at Kelso Public. Tahlia Kinney ran for the position of Secretary. She gave a fantastic speech about how proud she was of her culture and how she would teach others. Tahlia was successful in gaining the Secretaries position and will form part of the Junior AECG executive alongside three other students from Bathurst High School.
District Cross Country - Despite the chilly temperatures our students did a great job representing our school at the District Cross Country yesterday on the top of Mount Panorama. Congratulations to Roman Marple, Rhys Simmons, Billy Healey, Ava Hemming, Phoebe Hemming, Darcy Watson, Lilly McDonald and Anabel Astridge who will represent the Bathurst District at the Western Carnival on Wednesday 11 June.
On Tuesday 10 June at 6pm we will be holding a parent session about our Restorative Practices Partnership with Real Schools. The flyer below will provide you with further information. We would love to see as many parents as possible so we are able to foster meaningful relationships to support all our students, parents and staff.
School Community Charter - Please read the attached document outlining the School Community Charter.
At Eglinton we strive to ensure that all teachers, students, parents and community members treat each other with dignity and respect. This is inclusive of drop off and pick up times. The school is committed to building a positive school culture where student, staff and parent wellbeing is a priority. I appreciate your support.
