Performing Arts
Our students have been busy exploring the exciting world of performing arts – music, drama, and dance!
In our performing arts program, students have been exploring a variety of exciting skills and projects.
- Prep students have been learning about sound and the fundamentals of acting, including walking and talking to bring their characters to life.
- Grade 1 and 2 students have been busy filming their dance performances, showcasing their understanding of different cultures through movement and expression.
- Grades 3 and 4 have worked collaboratively to create indigenous scripts, incorporating musical instruments and acting to tell meaningful stories.
Grades 5 and 6 are in the final stages of preparing their performances, filming their acts to showcase their hard work.
Throughout all grades, students have been rehearsing for the upcoming school concert, with some classes designing and creating their own props, while others are practicing with the props they’ve made to enhance their performances. It’s been an inspiring journey of creativity, teamwork, and self-expression!
Physical Education
On Wednesday, May 7th, a squad of 38 students represented our school at the District Cross Country event at Toomuc Reserve, Pakenham. Our 9/10 year olds ran in a 2km race, whilst our 11 year olds and 12/13 year olds ran in a 3km race. Fortunately, the weather was cooler and more typical of that for this time of year and the light rain also helped to keep our runners cool. Students who finished in the top 10 in each race qualified for the Division Cross Country event. I am very pleased to say that we had three runners finish in the top ten, with several others finishing just outside. I was very proud of the efforts of all our students, as they all tried their very best and exhibited good behaviour during the day. Congratulations to you all, especially Patrick B., who received a medal for finishing in third place in the 11 year old boys event; Livsharan S., who finished in 9th place in the 11 year old boys event; and Jackson V., who finished in 5th place in the 12/13 year old boys event.
ART
In the 5/6 grades we have made a very challenging art work;
You take a lolly wrapper, zoom in on it with a self made viewfinder.
Make a draft, to get rid of any misunderstandings, and then draw the design on a piece of board.
The idea is to make the artwork look as much like the original wrapper as possible, including the lettering.
Another hard part of this assignment was that only a small section of the wrapper needed to be visible.
The final art work of some students stood out and as an extra reward for their effort, they received an actual bar or lolly bag (of their choice) of what they had painted.
By the way, do you remember this picture from the last newsletter?
Are you sure you had a good look???
