Head Lice
We have recently had a few reported cases of head lice at Corpus Christi School. This is not a cause for serious concern, as your child may not be affected. However, head lice are highly contagious.
To determine if your child has been infected with head lice, we kindly request that all parents inspect their child’s hair. We suggest that you look for the following symptoms or signs that would indicate the presence of head lice:
General: child scratching his/her head excessively
On pillows: fine black powder or pale coloured material.
In the hair: signs of lice eggs (nits) – cream or coffee coloured specks close to hair roots.
Lice: small white or “greyish” parasites the approximate size of a pinhead.
If you notice any of the above signs, or if you require further information, please get in touch with your local pharmacy. Several effective treatments are readily available and easy to apply.
If your child is infected with head lice you MUST advise the school and you MUST treat your child before they return to school.
To minimise the impact of a head lice outbreak, we ask all parents to regularly check their child’s hair for the presence of head lice.
Maternity Leave
Once again we send our warmest wishes to Mrs. Lauren Molluso as she begins her maternity leave at the end of this week, preparing for the arrival of her little one.
This is such a joyful and meaningful time, and we know she’ll cherish every moment in the lead-up to her baby’s arrival.
While her presence at school will be greatly missed, we are absolutely thrilled for her and look forward to welcoming her back when the time is right.
In the meantime, we wish Lauren a peaceful, healthy, and joy-filled leave.
Welcome
We welcome Mrs Elizabeth Camilleri over the next few weeks as she transitions into Yr 1/2M, replacing Lauren.
Elizabeth is a highly experienced educator with almost 30 years in primary education. She has worked across a range of year levels and has a strong background in both classroom teaching and literacy and numeracy intervention.
At present, Elizabeth is working in a specialist intervention role, supporting students with tailored learning programs. Out of respect and fairness to the students she currently supports, she will need to finalise her programs and assessments before transitioning fully into our school community. Elizabeth will be working with us (and the children) over the next three Fridays and will commence full-time with us on Monday, 23rd June.
I'm sure you will all welcome Elizabeth to our community.
Save the Date – 2026 Community Fair!
Just in case you missed it, we have exciting news to share—please save the date!
On Saturday, 14th November 2026, we will be having a Community School Fair that brings together the Kingsville and Yarraville Parish communities. In collaboration with St Augustine’s and Annunciation Primary Schools, this event aims to unite parents, staff, students, and the wider community for a day of fun, connection, and community spirit across our Parishes.
The Project Leader for the event will be Sophia Garro from our PFA committee.
To get started, we are calling upon one parent volunteer from each school to form the Executive. As part of this team, you’ll play a key leadership role in organising and delivering the event, supported by a dedicated Sub-Committee of volunteers.
If you’re passionate about community events and enjoy working with others, we’d love to hear from you!
📧 To express your interest, please email thyde@cckingsville.catholic.edu.au by Friday, 6th June, including:
Your Name
Mobile Number
Email Address
A brief description of the skills and attributes you can bring to the Executive Team role
Once the Executive Team is in place, we will reach out to all parents, staff & students to create a subcommittee of volunteer roles within Marketing, Hospitality, Entertainment, Finance, etc. These teams will be the heart of the Fair and essential to its success.
Stay tuned—details on how to join these volunteer roles will be shared in upcoming newsletters.
Let’s come together to make this a memorable event for all!
School Closure Day
Don't forget that this Friday, 6th June, is a School Closure Day: Staff Professional Development Day.
During this time, our staff will be undertaking important professional development focused on enhancing our behavioural support strategies. This work is part of our ongoing commitment to creating a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment for all students. We will be reviewing and updating our current approaches to align with best practices in student wellbeing and positive behaviour support.
Please note that there will be NO school for children on this day.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to strengthen the way we support every student’s learning and personal growth.
Have a wonderful week.
God Bless
Anthony Hyde
