As Term 2 kicked off in our art class, Students in grades F-2 embarked on an exploration through the vibrant world of renowned artist Yayoi Kusama, affectionately known as the 'Princess of Polka Dots'.
Students explored a variety of materials, drawing inspiration from Kusama's signature use of bright polka dots and unconventional subjects like pumpkins.
Meanwhile, the imaginative minds of our 3/4 students delved into the cubist realm of Pablo Picasso. Experimenting with geometric shapes and multiple perspectives, they crafted with attention to detail from the arrangement of fragmented forms to the careful consideration of colour and composition.
Our 5/6 students found inspiration in the colourful and quirky characters of Australian artist Mulga, also known as Joel Moore.
Emulating his iconic sunglasses-clad and handlebar moustache-sporting characters, students put their creative spin on fruit and vegetable-based personas, meticulously attending to every detail.
Across all grades, our budding artists have embraced creativity, innovation, and the joy of self-expression in their artistic endeavours, and its only week 2!
