Principal Team Message

Term 2 - Edition no: 5, 2024

TERM 2 - WELCOME BACK

Hello and welcome back to all our wonderful students and families. We hope you had a relaxing break and are all energised for an 11-week term. We are hitting the ground running this term (literally and figuratively) with Cross Country on Friday, 5/6 Camp and the introduction of Zones of Regulation. We also have some news faces around the school who we know will be welcomed with open arms by our school community. Students have settled back into the swing of things and have shown respect when welcoming our new staff. Each class has engaged in learning about Anzac Day, with buddies co-designing a poppy to remember our ANZACs by, and we will have an Anzac ceremony as part of our Assembly proceedings this week.

ZONES OF REGULATION - STUDENT WORKSHOPS

Following on from our staff training in the Zones of Regulation, we held introductory student sessions for all year levels, conducted by Jade Sacker, our Ripponlea OT.

To introduce our Zones of Regulation, Jade ran a workshop with each class identifying a range of emotions and what types of emotions the colours evoke. Students worked in small groups to discuss how different situations might make them feel and acknowledged that people react and respond in different ways. Please keep an eye on Compass for information about a Parent Information Session about the Zones of Regulation and have discussions at home reiterating this learning.

WELCOMING NEW STAFF

Mr Shane Dolan

A very warm welcome to Shane who will be covering Brenton in 5/6 for Term 2.

Hi everyone,

I’m Shane, a native Irish speaker, from the West Coast of Ireland. I have been in Australia for 4 months and am delighted to be joining Ripponlea Primary School for Term 2.

Previously I have lived and taught in Seoul, South Korea and also spent some time living in Chicago.

I look forward to meeting all the families of the Ripponlea Primary School community.

Mr Ryan West

A very warm welcome to Ryan who is covering for Braden Leech in 3/4 for Term 2.

Hi, I’m Ryan West.

I’m originally from Adelaide, but I now call Melbourne home.

I’m excited to be working with 34A this term. I have worked at many schools around the area, but I always enjoy my time working with both the staff and students at Ripponlea Primary.

This term we have many great activities planned and I’m sure the time will fly by… but not without some fun learning along the way.

PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE

The Premier's Reading Challenge encourages children and students to read a set number of books over the year and record their efforts online. Since the Challenge first began in 2005, more than 4.3 million students have read over 60 million books.

Ms D. is coordinating our school registrations and more information will soon be forthcoming.

A BABY GIRL FOR MR LEECH

Our Ripponlea School community is continually growing and we are over joyed to announce the safe and happy arrival of Ariana Jean Leech. Ariana is a keen bean who arrived a little earlier than expected, allowing Mr Leech and his wife a little more time to enjoy together as a family. We look forward to meeting Ariana when she visits us soon.

Until next fortnight!
