Students in Foundation have been introduced to the games of Freeze, Fruit Salad and Tiggy, with an emphasis on moving in different ways, listening, and following instructions while improving their spatial awareness. They have been learning how to throw and catch a large ball, with the focus on watching the ball and moving their hands to meet the ball.
Students in Years 1-6 have completed a unit focusing on Netball.
In Year 1/2, the focus has been on practising passing, catching, and shooting goals, as well as an introduction to the basic rules and positions of Netball.
Students in Years 3-6 have been practising the more advanced skills of moving and passing to 'spaces', pivoting, and which positions can go where on the court. They finished the unit by playing a game of Netball, which gave them a chance to showcase their skills, understanding of the rules and strategies, while integrating the concepts of teamwork, communication, and fair play.
