Year 7 and 8

A peek into the student lives of our Year 7 and 8 students this term

Year 7

As we reach the conclusion of Term 1, we would like to take a moment to reflect on the achievements and milestones of our Year 7 students. Students have shown a high level of commitment to their studies, striving for excellence across subject areas. Work Habit Ratings are at an all-time high, with a multitude of students achieving 4.0.

We recognise students’ efforts to participate in extracurricular activities, such as interschool sports, Lego League, Dodgeball competitions and a range of brunch time clubs. Students’ passions are imperative to the learning journey, as they allow for students to see success in different areas across the College, and build on positive interactions with peers.

We celebrate students’ personal growth and resilience in navigating the first term of secondary school. With a smooth transition from primary school, we are truly proud of our Year 7s’ determination, adaptability, and willingness to learn and grow.

Lego Club

Students are building and coding robotic cars to solve missions. The missions are the models on display. The old Lp7 office is now the project room where the students now have a dedicated space to work in; a big win and recognition of the importance of the Lego Club at the College.

Robotics Fun

On Friday 8th March, 8 students attended the REAL Robotics program at the Community Hub in Sunbury. Our year 7 & 8 students joined several other school students, to participate in problem solving and creative activities using the Spike Prime robotics kits, to help prepare for the Term 4 regional competition. It was a great day filled with fun activities.

Year 8 Camp

From Wednesday 20th March to Friday 22nd March, Year 8 students went to Forest Edge Camp in Neerim East. Upon arrival, we were greeted by enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff. Over the course of the 3 days, students engaged in a range of adventure activities, including dual flying fox, high ropes, crate climb, rock climbing, bush walk and many more. Night activities were a big hit too, with Minute to Win it competitions, board games and movie night. We were even able to squeeze in an AFL match screening. Year 8 camp was a wonderful opportunity for students to spend time with their friends and challenge themselves with new and exciting experiences.. A great way to end Term 1, well done Year 8s!

As we approach the holiday break, we extend our gratitude to parents and carers for their support and partnership in their child’s education. Together, we have created an environment where students can thrive and succeed. Also, thank you to all parents and carers who attended our first round of Parent Teacher Conferences.

Wishing everyone a restful break.
