Confirmation
In Term 2, the Year 6 students will learn about the Sacrament of Confirmation.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is a significant milestone in the journey of faith for young Catholics. Building upon their baptismal promises, Confirmation is a sacred rite where individuals publicly affirm their commitment to the Catholic Church and receive the special outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Through this sacrament, they are strengthened to live out their faith with courage and conviction, empowered to be active participants in the Church's mission of spreading love, peace, and justice in the world. It's a joyful celebration of spiritual growth and a pivotal moment in one's lifelong relationship with God.
For those students who are preparing to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, a number of activities have been organised:
- Information and Parent Workshop will take place on Wednesday 24th April at 7.00pm and Wednesday 1st May at 7.00pm. Parents only need to attend ONE of these events and it is designed for parents only.
- Commitment Weekend for all Candidates: 4th/5th May. Please come along to ONE of the Masses over this weekend with your Year 6 child who is making the Sacrament of Confirmation.
- Parent and Child Workshop will take place on Wednesday 8th May at 5.00pm and 7.00pm, Thursday 9th May at 7.00pm. Please Note: Parents and child need to attend only One session.
- There will be a Sacramental Retreat for all Year 6 students making their Confirmation on Thursday 6th June at St Agatha's School.
- The Sacrament of Confirmation Mass will take place on Sunday 18th August at St Agatha's Church.
This year's Catholic Education Week's theme is 'I am making all things new,' Rev 21:5. All schools within the Diocese of Sale were invited to create a short video about what makes Catholic Education so special.
Here is what some of our students had to say about why they love Catholic Education...
Catholic Education Week will take place from May 17 - May 24. During this week we will hold Open Days and other activities that will celebrate our amazing school.
We hope you all have a blessed and holy Easter.
Heavenly Father,
As we enter into this sacred time of Holy Week, we come before you as a family, united in faith and love. We are grateful for the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ, who willingly suffered and died for our sins, offering us the promise of salvation and eternal life.
During this week, help us to reflect deeply on the journey of Jesus, from his triumphant entry into Jerusalem to his ultimate sacrifice on the cross. May we walk alongside him in his suffering, recognizing the weight of our own sins and the immeasurable depth of your love.
Grant us the grace to truly enter into the spirit of repentance and renewal, turning away from those things that separate us from you and embracing the life of discipleship to which you call us. Help us to empty ourselves of pride and selfishness, so that we may be filled with your Holy Spirit and radiate your light and love to all those around us.
As we commemorate the Last Supper, may we be reminded of the gift of the Eucharist, through which you nourish us with the body and blood of your Son. Strengthen our bonds of love as a family, and help us to be ever mindful of those who hunger for both physical and spiritual nourishment.
As we journey with Jesus to the cross, may we find hope in the knowledge that his death was not the end, but the beginning of new life. Give us the courage to embrace our own crosses and to trust in your promise of resurrection.
Lord, bless our family during this Holy Week and always. May we grow closer to you and to one another, and may our hearts be transformed by the power of your love. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
