Road to Respect Program

Carlton Football Club

Carlton Football Club’s community and engagement team visited our school on Wednesday and Thursday this week and ran their Road to Respect Program with all of our Year 5 students. Students covered the following four topics with their facilitators.

Managing your emotions: Students gained a more in-depth understanding of the fluctuating nature of emotions and how they can be portrayed, as well as a range of strategies to manage difficult emotions.

Bullying and Help Seeking: Students gained tools to recognise bullying in its varying forms and identify where and how to seek support.

Being a buddy and stereotypes: Furthermore they also learned the behaviours associated with being an active bystander and were prompted to identify common gender stereotypes along with their potential negative impact on others.

Values and Respect: The session concluded by students understanding the difference between values and characteristics, what equality is and how to make sure they treat everyone equally and with respect.

We thank Carlton Football Club for running their program at our school and we hope to see their football players back on our school grounds very soon.
