Students started to investigate the question “Why are river pebbles round?” by doing the Sugar shake erosion experiment. In this experiment students learn about erosion processes by shaking sugar cubes in a container, which models what happens to rock pieces or sand grains when they are transported by wind or water.
Students created volcanic eruptions using bicarb soda and vinegar which they mapped out and built upon using play dough to make a volcano. Students then worked as Physical Volcanologists to take core lava samples of their volcanoes to understand the layers of their volcano.
