Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony

Uncle Josh and Uncle Mark from the Bunurong Land Council graciously delivered a heartfelt Welcome to Country and conducted a Smoking Ceremony on both campuses during week 6, setting a poignant tone for our school's engagement with Reconciliation Week events. Throughout Week 7, our entire school community embraced the opportunity to learn, explore, and celebrate during Reconciliation Week. A diverse range of events and activities were planned, including in-class learning opportunities, lunchtime clubs, a Reconciliation Week Breakfast, and a special assembly on Friday. 

Top Up Swimming Program

Over the last two weeks, the SLC students have engaged in 10 free swimming sessions, courtesy of Life Saving Victoria. The Top Up swimming program is a new initiative, researching into interventions for students with low swimming ability. As part of the program, students and parents were required to complete surveys in relation to students swimming competence and confidence levels. The students reported that they have thoroughly enjoyed the lessons at Dandenong Oasis pool. The school’s regular swimming program for all students, will take place in the last two weeks of Term 3. 

Student Representative Council (SRC) 

The 2024 Student Representative Council (SRC) members were announced at the latest assembly. The SRC will be responsible for collecting and communicating student voice information from their peers in relation to school based and local community consultation. These students have been nominated by their peers as responsible leaders who demonstrate the school values of Excellence, Collaboration, Resilience and Respect.
