Firefighters Come To Visit BNPS
On Monday 6 May we were lucky to have Grant and the Mentone firefighters come to teach us about fire safety. We got to see all of the gear firefighters wear when they are fighting fires and one even put on all of her firefighting clothes and equipment.

We also learnt about how we can ensure fires are safe and different situations and actions which can make fire dangerous. We spoke about how important it is to have a safe place outside to go to in case there is a fire or emergency at home.

The firefighters returned after lunch on Monday 13 May. They drove their truck on to our school oval and showed us how the firefighting hoses are sprayed. We were amazed at how far the water went! We all then had a go of being firefighters ourselves and soaking the oval!

Mother's Day Pampering
Last Wednesday after lunch, our mums and special friends came to the Prep Learning Centre for a special Mother’s Day pampering session. We decorated the classrooms with bright tablecloths, put some flowers in vases and made our mums special love heart cards. We also had a love heart chocolate and some special make up gifts for them.

We gave Mum a massage, put hand cream on, painted her nails, did her make-up and some of us even did our mum’s hair. The Prep teachers thought we did a really good job! They also thought it was very funny!!

Inquiry/Science - Slime:
The Preps are having an amazing time in Science this term. As part of our Unit of Inquiry, 'Senses help people express their ideas’, we looked at the science of edible slime. We visited the Science room where Mrs. Jones helped us to make icky, sticky slime!

The Preps noticed how the marshmallows went from being squishy to soft and melted when they were put in the microwave for one minute. We then added cornflour and icing sugar to make our slime.
Prep B
The Preps got to explore the slime through their senses, noticing that it looked pink, it smelt sweet, it felt sticky and gooey, it made popping noises when they played with it and the Preps even got to have a little taste, noticing how yummy the slime was!
Our mini scientists looked very professional dressed in their lab coats for the experiment!
