The Power of Perseverance...
A message from the NPS Principal - Mr. Corrie Barclay.
We are well and truly at the pointy end of the term and I say that knowing we have 2 weeks still to go!
It is traditionally this time of the year/term that we see motivation in students waning, illness levels rising across the board, and for some, the need for our term break to hurry up and get here! This can be a little like watching a clock and getting that feeling and sense that it is going backwards...
Mr. Kinnis and I have a saying that we picked up from American author Patrick Lencioni;
With that all in mind and thinking about the above, what is important, extremely!, is that we collectively persevere and finish off the year as strong as we can for our students, ourselves, and our families. That means, focusing on what does matter and concentrating our energy and efforts on our teaching and learning programs and the wellbeing of staff and students.
Schools are VERY busy places and it can be scarily easy to lose sight of the bigger and what is in fact 'important'.
With two weeks left of term, we'll preserve and focus on what is important to ensure that our end of term is purposeful, focused, and successful!
Last Wednesday, our 3 SLA classrooms received delivery of 45 new student desks. These desks are a much better ergonomic height (that can be adjusted) for our students than their previous desks. They also look great in the SLA spaces!
We have a number of the previous desks available to our school community - Free. Please contact the office if you would like to take one, ...or two ...or three!
We were very excited to have completed an exciting grounds development project last week. Students arrived at school on Tuesday morning to see a very new and very blue ground cover of synthetic turf complete with an inlaid giant chess/checkers board! The updated space is located between the basketball court and the playground. This project has been in the 'pipeline' for some time now, and we are very happy to now have it completed for our students to enjoy. This project was made possible from fundraising projects undertaken during 2023.
We are currently in the process of determining our 2024/25 school fundraising areas of focus / proposed projects. We encourage all members of our school community to have their say. Please utilise the school's feedback portal if you would like to have a project or specific focus area considered for directing our fundraising efforts in 2024.
