Principal's Report

Dear St A’s Community,

I  hope this newsletter finds you well! St A's  has been buzzing with activity this past 2 weeks!

Shrove Tuesday & Ash Wednesday

On Wednesday, we came together as a school community to observe Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of the Lenten season. The school mass, held in our hall, was a powerful and reflective experience for students and staff alike.

Father Chinua led the service, reminding us of the significance of Lent as a time for prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. He spoke eloquently about the importance of self-reflection, repentance, and turning our hearts back to God. His words resonated deeply with those in attendance, encouraging us to examine our lives and identify areas where we can grow in faith and compassion.

The highlight of the mass was the distribution of ashes. As students and staff  received the mark of the cross on their foreheads, a tangible reminder of our mortality and the need for repentance. The words, "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return," echoed throughout the space, prompting quiet contemplation and a renewed commitment to living a life of purpose and meaning.

Beyond the religious significance, the Ash Wednesday mass served as a valuable opportunity for the school community to pause, reflect, and connect with one another on a deeper level. It provided a space for quiet contemplation amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life, allowing us to recenter ourselves and focus on what truly matters.

As we embark on this Lenten journey, let us remember the lessons learned during the Ash Wednesday mass. Let us strive to deepen our relationship with God through prayer, practice self-discipline through fasting, and extend our generosity to others through almsgiving. May this Lenten season be a time of spiritual growth and renewal for all members of the St. Augustine's community.

St. Augustine's Shatters Records and Spirits Soar at Annual Athletics Day!

Today the sun shone brightly as students, teachers, and parents alike gathered for the much-anticipated annual  3-6 Athletics Day!  A day filled with fierce competition, unwavering sportsmanship, and a whole lot of cheering, the event was a resounding success, leaving everyone buzzing with excitement. Students from Grades 3 - 6 participated with incredible enthusiasm, showcasing their athletic prowess in a wide range of events. The track saw a flurry of activity with sprints, relays, and hurdles, while the field hosted impressive displays of strength and agility in long jump, high jump and shot put.

Beyond the individual achievements, the day was a testament to the strong sense of community within St. Augustine's. House spirit was on full display, with students decked out in their house colours, chanting and cheering on their teammates.

A massive thank you to all the teachers, staff, and parent volunteers who dedicated their time and effort to make Athletics Day such a memorable occasion. From setting up the field to officiating events, your contributions were invaluable.

Athletics Day is more than just a competition; it's a celebration of physical activity, teamwork, and school spirit. It's a day where students can challenge themselves, support their peers, and create lasting memories. We look forward to another fantastic Athletics Day next year!

Looking Ahead

We encourage all students to continue pursuing their athletic interests and participating in extracurricular activities. Let's continue to build on the success of Athletics Day and foster a culture of health and well-being within St. Augustine's!  I can't wait for the Junior Athletics event!

Prep 2026

Thankyou to all the parents that have let me know that they have another child ready to start Prep in 2026!   If you have a child starting Prep in 2026, please email principal@safranksth.catholic.edu.au

and let me know by stating your child's name and date of birth.  This way a spot can be held!

After school supervision

When the bell goes at the end of the day, the students are supervised at the Kiss and drop area by our staff members. If your child is playing on the playground, it is parents responsibility to look after your children.  We are happy for the students to play after school, however they need to be actively supervised.  Please help us keep your children safe!

Also a reminder that at the Kiss and go, that cars should not be overtaking other cars to get a better spot in the line.  Please just stay in the line and wait for your turn.  Safety of all is very important.

Show Grace, Be the joy for others and God Bless.

Enjoy the long weekend and the beautiful sunshine!
