Year 1 News

From Joey, Year 1 Teacher
First Year One Assembly
Our students eagerly participated in the first Year One assembly. The assembly provided valuable opportunities for us to revisit the school values and positive behaviour expectations, celebrate our achievements, announce the Junior School Representative Council (JSRC) reps, and come together at a year level to strengthen our relationship.
Congratulations to all the RISE award recipients from the first Year One assembly. These students have demonstrated the school values consistently and are committed to upholding the values in their future journey.
Writing
The writer's workshop was introduced during the writing session. We focused on forming sentences and started narrative writing in the past two weeks. Students learnt about the important elements of a sentence and the structure of a narrative. They have been applying their knowledge during independent writing and have been looking forward to having writing conferences with our teachers to work on individual writing goals.
Maths
This fortnight in Maths, students explored data and representation by learning about tally marks, bar graphs and interpreting categorical data. Students even created their survey questions, collected data from our peers and analysed them.
