Chopping Techniques

On the menu in the kitchen in Week 5 was Lablabi (Tunisian Chickpea Soup), Cheesy Garlic Bread and Cucumber Salad using crunchy fresh celery and cucumber from the garden.

Here are some snippets from 4A's Our Day in the Kitchen Reflections

I really enjoyed measuring out the spices and practicing the bear claw chopping technique.

I liked making the cucumber salad because we organised it in a cool shape.

One of my highlights was chopping the cucumber and the smell of the room. It smelt like cumin and coriander seeds.

My favourite part wad when me and Kat arranged all the cucumbers from the salad to make a pretty louts flower.

I like chopping the tall cucumber and I like spreading the butter onto the bread.

Recipes/tasks we performed this week

This week we performed chopping safely in different ways. We also learned how to make Lablabi, a type of soup from a different country.

We made Lablabi and garlic bread with cucumber salad ( our lotus flower).

We are learning how to use a knife.

New words we have learned

The new word I learned is Lablabi. I also learned harissa is a type of sauce made with chilli and capsicum.

The new word I have learned is Lablabi, it is a soup from North Africa.
