In Our Classrooms

Please refer to our cohort updates for Prep, Year 1, Year 2, Year 5 and Year 6. Our next newsletter will focus on our Year 3 and 4 programs!

RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS

For the remainder of the term in the PEP program, our Primary Years students will be learning about their personal and cultural strengths. Personal strengths, such as resilience, empathy, and confidence, help individuals navigate challenges and build respectful relationships. Cultural strengths, including traditions, languages, and values, shape our perspectives and connections with others. By understanding and appreciating both personal and cultural strengths, students develop respect for diversity and inclusion, creating a more supportive and harmonious school community.

You can use the strengths poster below to explore your child's strengths together and encourage them to share what they believe their personal strengths are. These conversations will complement the discussions students are having with their teachers and classmates, helping to reinforce their learning at home.

YEAR 6 INTER-SCOOL SPORT TEAM UPDATES

Praneel

Hi my name is Praneel and I play inter-school cricket. Our inter-school cricket Program offers a holistic range of benefits that contribute to physical health, mental well-being, social skills, academic performance, and personal growth for me and others. The HGC Boy's C A team are currently undefeated, we have a great team.

Adem

In Week 5, we saw Hazel Glen College achieve 2 wins and 2 losses. The Boys A team won by 65 runs. I am having fun participating in Cricket and I enjoy going to other schools to play. I like seeing great sportsmanship from my team mates.

Koby

Over the last 3 weeks, the Cricket B team has played other schools like St Paul's and Mernda Hills who forfeited. On Friday, we played Mernda Park Primary. Even though we have lost some games, it has been fun playing with friends, and I am enjoying learning a new sport.

Ruby

In Week 4, we had 2 winning games of T-ball, however, all of our games were pretty close in scores and we even had a tie. In Week 5, we had 2 wins and 2 losses. T-ball is fun to play and it is a great game to make new friends. Sometimes we go to play at other schools or sometimes the other school comes to play at Hazel Glen. When we go to another school, we walk to the school if it is close by or we go on a bus. It’s exciting to go to other schools to play basketball because you might play against your old classmates and other friends you know. T-ball is also going to help you exercise more and give you more energy.
