What A Great Term We Are Having in 3/4MK!

Matilda by Roald Dahl

This term we have been participating in our first big Novel Study using the book Matilda by Roald Dahl. Matilda has been a wonderful book to share as a class. We have shared many funny and memorable moments including Matilda gluing her Father’s hat to his head and when Matilda meets Miss Honey for the first time. We have also learnt many lessons from the book such as being unique is a good thing and should be celebrated and to always be kind. We have studied Matilda’s character in depth and wrote Acrostic Poems about her.

Circle Time

In our class, we have talked a lot about Kindness and how important it is to be kind to others. We have also talked a lot about being Resilient and how we can show resilience especially when things may not be going the way we want them too.

Earlier in the term, we were very lucky to have Mrs Willmott come and join Mrs Moxon and the class to guide us through a special Circle Time about things we sometimes worry about and where they might land on a ‘Catastrophe Scale’. We talked about how events like floods or cyclones would be EXTREME on the scale whereas a slight disagreement with a friend about what to play on a certain day might be MILD on the scale. We all agreed that if something can be sorted out and we use our resilience skills to help us that very rarely do things progress higher on the scale.

Religion- Let’s Pray

This year our theme in Religion is Let’s Pray. We have been learning about all the different types of Prayers such as Prayers of Thanks, Prayers of Petition, Prayers of Sorrow and Prayers of Praise.

We have also created a class Prayer Mat that we can use in the classroom for special Prayer times.
