Grade 2 Community News

Dear Grade 2 families,
What an amazing first half of Term 1 we have had. The students have been working hard, and our classrooms are buzzing with learning, laughter, and lots of exciting discoveries.
Here’s what we’ve been up to!
English
In our InitiaLit lessons the students have been mastering tricky digraphs: ue and ew! As well as looking at trigraph igh. The students are loving these lessons and are becoming pros at the routines.
Exciting news—students have started bringing home Take-Home Readers! We’re on a mission to reach 50 nights of reading by the end of the term. Keep up the great work, and let’s aim for those certificates!
Our little readers have been busy exploring the purpose and features of imaginative text in our comprehension lessons. Students have been working hard to practice their fluency when reading ensuring they are using expression and punctuation when they read.
Handwriting is also a big focus, and we’re practicing those letter formations to make sure our work is neat and legible.
Maths
We’ve been reviewing addition and building confidence with our number skills. Students have also been looking at calendars and being able to count how many days until an event as well as looking at calendar features.
Reminders
• Reading every night - Every book counts towards our 50-night challenge!
• Label school uniforms - Lost jumpers are much easier to find when they have a name!
• Hats on! - The sun is shining, and hats are a must when playing outside.
• Arrive on time - Being ready to learn from the start of the day makes a huge difference.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Let’s keep up the fantastic work, Grade 2!
