PFA Volunteer Lead Opportunities

The PFA is seeking volunteers to shadow our current Icypole Friday & Hot Cross Bun lead organiser Sian Holm this year, and take the lead next year, along with volunteer/s to take over the running of the Second Hand Uniform Stall from Miranda Welham from Term 2.

Unfortunately if we do not secure a new lead organiser, the Second Hand Uniform Stall, will be closing at the end of Term 1 until we find a volunteer/s.

Icypole Friday Coordination (Terms 1 & 4)

A 1-2 hour commitment per week in terms 1 & 4. Responsibilities are sourcing icypoles & then running Icypole Friday for approx 1.5 hours (although you don’t necessarily need to attend every week, the PFA can help you find volunteers to assist).

Hot Cross Bun fundraiser (Term 1)

Requires minimal commitment over the month leading up to Easter. A few hours liaising with Bakers Delight & providing details for Qkr etc, and then another few hours in distribution day during the final week of term.

Second Hand Uniform Stall (year-round)

The current organiser of the CPS Second Hand Uniform Stall Miranda Welham is looking for someone to take over from her on an ongoing basis from the start of Term 2.

What is running the uniform stall like?

It's a straightforward independent job but is a lovely opportunity to meet everyone across the different cohorts while supporting CPS and the community, with the funds raised going towards school camps, incursions and excursions.

What would I need to do on a regular basis?

  • Arrive approx. 3pm to collect the keys, cash box and EFTPOS machine from CPS reception, collect any donations and go to the uniform shop
  • Open the container, set up the table and open the stall
  • Tidy up, hang, fold, sort clothes while parents browse

How long do I have to spend each time the stall is open?

  • Anywhere between 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the weather, how busy the stall is and how much time you have that day!

Do I need to do it all myself?

  • No!  While we need one person to be the lead organiser/volunteer, the PFA can help set up a roster system to share the load

What days does the uniform stall need to open?

  • It's really up to you!  For the past 7 years its opened before and/or after school on various days, which are then added to the school website and/or newsletter
  • Fridays seem to be most popular so is a good day to open

What else do I need to know?

  • Ideally the stall should open 1-2 times during prep orientation sessions
  • There are generally a lot of donations at the start of the school year and when the weather warms up again in Term 4 which will require some additional time (approx. 4-5 hours) to sort (although you can call for volunteers via SignUp for this)

If you are interested in finding out more about any of these opportunities please email pfa@carnegieps.vic.edu.au

Upcoming one-off volunteer opportunities:
