From the Principal's Desk

I can’t believe we are already at the end of Week 6—the term is certainly flying by. I thought I would begin this cycle’s Principal’s Report by reminding families that Parent–Teacher Interviews will take place next week. These meetings are a valuable opportunity to touch base with your child’s teacher, discuss how your child(ren) are progressing, and begin planning for the year ahead.
I would like to congratulate our diocesan swimming representatives—Kasey, Hudson, Nate, Frankie, Rose and Tommy. Representing the school at this level is always a wonderful achievement, and I hear there were some new personal bests recorded as well. Well done to you all.
While speaking of sporting achievements, congratulations also to Leo for being selected in the Diocesan Rugby League team. A fantastic accomplishment—well done, Leo!
This week also marks the beginning of NAPLAN for our students in Years 3 and 5. NAPLAN provides a useful snapshot of how students are progressing in the fundamental areas of reading, writing, conventions of language and numeracy. When combined with the many assessments we conduct throughout the year at school, it helps us better understand how to support each student’s learning. While NAPLAN is important, it is only one part of our broader school program. At All Saints’, we are incredibly proud of the many gifts and strengths our students demonstrate every day—many of which cannot be measured by a standardised test.
As we continue our journey through Lent, we are reminded that this is a special time in the Church’s year for reflection, prayer and renewal. For our students, Lent is an opportunity to think about how they can grow in kindness, generosity and compassion towards others. Throughout the week, classes have been exploring the meaning of the season through prayer, acts of service and small sacrifices. In doing so, students are learning that Lent is not only about giving something up, but also about giving more of ourselves—to God and to those around us. As a school community, we continue to prepare our hearts for the joy of Easter, remembering that even the smallest acts of love and care can make a real difference in the lives of others.
Finally, on Wednesday, we will be holding the P&F AGM, followed by a general meeting. All parents are warmly welcome. It is a great opportunity to hear what is happening around the school and to have a voice in the life of our community.
God Bless,
Daniel Francis
Principal
