Principal Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

December is always my favourite month.

Is it because Santa is coming?

Is it because I love chocolate and each day the calendar shares some Cadbury goodness?

Is it because I am counting down to the upcoming school holidays?

Well, they are all things that bring me joy but...

the real answer is how fun December is for everyone at school. It is jam packed with fun!

We welcome our new preps for transition. They get to spend some quality time at school. They get to meet and greet with grade 5 buddies.

We farewell our grade 6 students and wish them well on their next adventure.

We have our yearly art show as well as carols (hopefully not in the rain!)

We start to transition into our new classrooms and learn who are new teachers are. There have been some surprise lunch guests this last 3 weeks.

Transition

Thank you to everyone who completed a 'Getting to Know You Information' survey. The information from this will make its way to our teachers this week before we get to the upcoming state-wide transition day on Tuesday 10th December. Teachers have already created class lists, shared care lists and started to plan for teaching in 2025.

2025 Classes

On Friday 6th December students will receive a copy of their 2025 class lists at the end of the day. The teachers spend many hours looking at the data, friendships and learning styles of children to create the class lists. The input from families have also been considered.

The majority of students take change in their stride. We know for some this can be difficult. Different friends, different teachers and different locations can throw them. Children also respond to how you respond. If you highlight the positives, they will see that and respond with resilience. The reverse is true.

I kindly ask that you please do not ask for changes and that you share trust in the teachers decisions. The classes are setup and a lot of work goes on to get to this point in the school.

If you have a concern with a class, please feel free to share the concern directly with me and I will focus on resolving this in future years.

Teacher Changes

Adults also transition at this time of year from school to other schools, or to other adventures.

The following staff have chosen an adventure elsewhere for 2025. I would like to thank them for their efforts this year with our children and wish them a fond farewell.

Veronica Paps will be returning to Montrose PS.

Megan Pepprell will be joining Badger Creek PS and Renee Barnden and Kylie Morrissey (adventures TBC).

As they move on there are other teachers, we would like to welcome to our team here at RHPS. A warm welcome back to Claire Cripps and Daena Hailey who are returning.

New to RHPS next year will be Erin Rennick who joins us from Manchester PS, Nicholas Pagliaro who joins us from Heathmont East PS, and Kim Taylor (Science/STEAM) and Charlotte Twentyman (Health and PE).  A big welcome to them all. We cannot wait to work with you.
