On the 27th of November the year 3, 5 & 6 students went to the the Horsham Aquatic Centre to learn about water safety. We were lucky enough to have people from Life Saving Victoria to come and show us not just how to be safe in the water, but also how to save others.
We did water activities that included learning how to save someone using a boogie board, how to safely enter water, using items such as rope, foam, a helmet etc. to save people.
There were also land activities about, how to follow rules and regulations, how to identify if water is safe to swim in and how to recognise a rip current. We also learnt about the DRSABCD (Danger, Response, Send, Airway, Breathing, CPR, Defibrillation).
This day showed the students how to save their own life and others. We all enjoyed this day, and thank the instructors that taught us these important things.
