TERM 4, Week 8

Can you believe there are only 13 school days left for this year? How this year has flown! There has been so much joy, growth, and excitement in the Prep Learning community this year. We are all so proud of every student and everything they have accomplished this year.

This week, we have been revising lots of things we have learned this year. In Maths, we are continuing to practice the skill of counting on. That is when we add two collections together by keeping the biggest number in our head and then counting on to add the rest. We are challenging ourselves to quickly recognise numbers that come before and after, and 1 more and 1 less. On Thursday, we tackled a new skill of learning about arrays. We had to work out the number of rows and how many were in each row, but not how many there were in total. This was very tricky.

During our handwriting lessons, we are working hard practising all the letters of the alphabet and how to write these correctly on the dotted third lines. We are working hard to remember to always sit the letters on the solid line. In reading, we have been exploring the book Wombat Stew, and we were very excited on Wednesday to make our wombat stew. We used chocolate custard for mud, chocolate chips for flies, shredded coconut for feathers, sour worms for creepy crawlies, and jelly beans for gum nuts.

Have a lovely weekend,

Tina, Simone and Ebonie
