Grade 1 Walking Excursion

As part of our Geography unit, "People and Places," our Grade 1 students embarked on an exciting walking excursion to explore the special spots around our local area of Preston!

Equipped with backpacks and comfy shoes, the children set off through the quiet streets, buzzing with anticipation. Our first stop was Preston Market, where everyone enjoyed a delicious hot jam donut and a fresh piece of fruit—a perfect energy boost!

Next, we visited the Preston Library, where we were warmly welcomed by Clare, the librarian. Many of our students are regular visitors to the library, so they were thrilled to be there. Inside, we settled down to enjoy a story, and Clare gave us a fantastic tour, highlighting all of the wonderful free resources available for everyone.

After our library adventure, it was just a short walk to our final destination: the Preston Police Station. We were lucky to meet Senior Constable Andrew Moreton, who guided us through the station and explained the important work police do in the Darebin area. A special moment was when June and Travis got to wear a police vest and hold some of the equipment used by officers.

After a fun-filled day, we made our way back to school, where the children enjoyed a refreshing zooper dooper to cool down after all that walking.

A big thank you to all of the parents who joined us on our excursion and helped make it such a wonderful experience for our Grade 1 students. We appreciate your time in helping our students explore and learn about our local community.
