Transition to School - Visiting the Canteen
This week we have had a focus on learning how to buy from the canteen. We practiced how to approach the counter, what to ask for, and how to politely make our requests. We discussed how to ask for items like snacks, drinks, or meals clearly and respectfully, using phrases like "Could I please have...?" or "I'd like to order...". We took the children to the canteen with their money to put their learning into action. Each child was given the opportunity to practise what they had learned, asking for an ice block to cool down in the heat. They used polite phrases like, "Could I please have an ice block?" and "How much is that?" while paying for their treats. It was a fun and practical way for the children to reinforce their communication skills and enjoy a refreshing snack together.
This activity supports transition to school by helping children develop important life skills that make them feel more independent and confident in their new environment. By practising how to buy from the canteen, they become familiar with a common school routine.
Salvation Army Christmas Appeal
We are so proud of our preschoolers for organising this year's Salvation Army's Christmas Appeal! Over the past few weeks, the children have learned the true spirit of giving and understanding the importance of helping others in need. They've been involved in collecting non-perishable food items and their enthusiasm has been truly heart warming.
A huge thank you goes to our wonderful families for their continuous support and generous donations. Your contributions are making a meaningful difference in the lives of those less fortunate this holiday season.
As we approach the final week of the appeal, we encourage families to drop off any last items before they are all collected and delivered to Liverpool. The preschoolers have gained a deeper understanding of gratitude and the value of sharing and it's all thanks to your kindness.
