The power of reading aloud

Did you know that reading aloud benefits children of all ages? Research shows that it enhances empathy and critical thinking skills.

For older students, reading aloud strengthens listening abilities, fosters a love of storytelling and sparks discussions that deepen their understanding of the world.

According to the Scholastic Kids and Family Reading Report, 87% of children aged six to 11 say being read to is a special bonding time with their parents.

Over the final weeks of term, the library staff will explore Philip Bunting’s new picture book Christmas is ...This beautifully illustrated book inspires meaningful discussions about the holiday season, celebrating the unique ways families come together during this special time of year.

As the holidays approach, we encourage families to make reading a part of their routine.
