Middle Sub School News

Sarah Hill   -  Middle Sub School Leader

Hello Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to Week 6 of Term 4!

We recently enjoyed a delightful visit from Aussie Farms, where students had the opportunity to interact with a variety of farm animals, including goats, lambs, chickens, and rabbits. The students were thrilled to learn about these animals, how to care for them, and what they contribute to a farm. It was a wonderful hands-on experience that brought many smiles and sparked some great classroom conversations!

Dual Enrolments

SSG Meetings are a great opportunity to discuss the possibility of a dual enrolment at a mainstream school if this is something you would like to explore. Please let your child’s classroom teacher know if you’re interested in this option, as they may be able to provide insights into its feasibility and connect you with our Transition Coordinator, who can help support a dual enrolment moving forward.

Here are a few important reminders and upcoming dates:

  • Middle School Awards (Week 9): We’re excited to celebrate our students’ achievements in both academic and social-emotional growth. More details will be shared soon!
  • Year 6 Graduation (12th December): Invitations have been sent home, along with information about the event’s schedule. RSVPs should now have been completed and returned to classroom teams. The evening will take place in the Yaluk building, beginning at 5:30 pm with dinner, followed by the arrival of additional guests at 6:00 pm. Please note that students who are graduating may still remain in the Middle Sub School. Graduating Year 6 marks the completion of a number of years of schooling, and their transition to Secondary at our school will occur in the coming years. We look forward to celebrating this special milestone with our Year 6 students and their families!
  • Transition to 2025 Classrooms (Week 11): As we prepare for transition week, our focus is on helping students feel ready and confident as they meet their new teachers and classmates. The 2025 class list will be shared with families in Week 9 of this term, allowing time for students and families to prepare for the transition. Please know that our staff are here to support any questions or concerns you may have during this period, especially for students who may feel a bit anxious. We’re committed to making this a smooth and positive experience for everyone.

Sun Smart Reminder: As the weather warms up, please ensure that your child comes to school with a sun-smart hat to wear during outdoor activities. Hats are essential to help protect against the sun, and we appreciate your support in reminding students to be sun safe.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to an exciting and productive conclusion to Term 4!

Warm regards,

Sarah Hill

Room 17

Term 4 has been a very busy and exciting term for students in Room 17, with a number of extra-curricular activities taking place, including the production of Sticks & Stones, the animal farm experience, Halloween dress-up, trick or treating as well as our outing to Inflatable World.

As the weather warms up, students are beginning to return to the garden, where they have been busy with watering, weeding and planting. This term students in Room 17 will also be involved in seed planting and propagating.  Students have been busy in maths learning the skills of multiplicative thinking, money and time. These skills have been reinforced with the use of the Jacana Mini Woolies Supermarket, which they have enjoyed taking part in thoroughly.
