Early Learning Centre

3-Year-Old Kinder

The children have been learning about our community, and looking at a map of Australia, a map of Victoria, as well as a map of Indonesia. We have been plotting some of the different holiday destinations that families had over the Easter break, as well as some weekend adventures.

The children helped to make playdough this week. They took turns to add ingredients, to stir the mix, and finally to knead and roll the playdough together with their hands. We made green and yellow playdough!

The group engaged in an inside obstacle course, using the trampoline, tunnel, hoops and hurdles. The skills the children are working on include jumping, hopping, core strength, lining up and turn-taking.

Special Visitors

We were lucky to have Mrs Steingbergs visit twice in two days in May. The first visit she found the children painting the white outdoor canvas blue and green as the children asked to paint a hill. Mrs Steignbergs was a great helper in reaching the taller parts of the board and making her mark in the kindergarten.

The next day, Mrs Steingbergs visited the children with her guitar. It was a sweet session to see the children continue learning another one of God's gifts through music and movement. Thankyou Mrs Steinbergs!

Mrs Coates visited to talk to the children about the production occurring. The children were practising their song and excited to hear the storyline of Madagascar Jr: the musical. The students are learning to pronounce their voice and all face the front at the same time to practise being in an Audience. Please consider purchasing your ticket ASAP to see the Early Learning Centre children perform on the Wednesday evening only.

Mr Svigos

As the children have been learning about bees: Mrs Whiteside asked an Author if he could visit. Mr Svigos has written books engaging children in stories about “Dewey” a curious water droplet who explores water cycles in different ways. The children were able to learn about how an Author and Illustrator makes books and decorates the pages. The children were so excited to receive their own Dewey raindrop at the end of the book reading.  Thankyou Mr Svigos!

Group Play

How wonderful it has been to see small and large groups of children working together to create rich learning together.  The children are settling into their year and the Teachers and Educators are blown away with their kindness, goodness and patience with one another as they learn.

Push Up Challenge

To support Miss Johnstone doing the Push Up Challenge along with other Bayside staff and students, the 4-year-old classmates learnt how to use their bodies to do push ups. Miss Johnstone had some wonderful cheerleaders as she completed 40 push-ups and the children received a fantastic core workout too!

Introducing Mrs Amy Hu

We are excited to welcome Mrs Amy Hu, as the new Director of the Early Learning Centre. It has been a whirlwind of a start for Mrs Hu as the Early Learning Centre was given notice to undergo accreditation, but we hope the first week has brought more fun, laughter and play into your week than paperwork!
