Hockey

Well done Mia and Ava Vaughn alongside Andrew Knight on representing Hockey New England at the U18's state championships over the weekend of the 27th and 28th of April.

Well done also to Tyler Riggall who attended the NSW Under 14's State Hockey Championship in Taree over Mothers Day weekend. Tyler Represented Hockey New England and played in Division 1 as the goalkeeper. The team made it to the semi finals.

It's always great to see what our students achieve in the wider community!

Bill Turner Cup

Congratulations to our 15 years boys team who won in the second round of the Bill Turner Cup versing ASC on Friday May 3rd. It was a tight game, 1-0 to ASC at half time but then OCC followed the advice given to them and played an amazing second half  to tie the game 1-1 at full time. This led to 15 minutes of overtime with a player from each team being removed from the field each five minutes. No goals were scored during this time which led to another 15 minutes of overtime. Finally Jahluka Flint went on to score the winning goal with some AMAZING goal saves from goalie Adam Harris. Everyone played their hardest, displayed outstanding sportsmanship and never gave up. Well done and good luck in Round 3!

Netball

Marisa and Jess were selected in the Armidale Diocese under 15's team to trial in Penrith last week  in the NSWCCC under 15's team. Both Marisa and Jess trialled exceptionally well, however missed out on making the team. Marisa and Jess showed outstanding sportsmanship during the day and did both O'Connor and the Diocese proud. Thank you Mrs Burton for attending with our girls.

Diocesan Cross Country

Diocesan Tennis

Jack Abbott and George Claxton represented O'Connor in Dio Tennis on Wednesday at SportUNE. Competing against some older boys, both won the majority of their singles matches and narrowly lost the doubles encounter by one game to McCarthy.

It was obvious that both lads receive coaching, as their skill level and gamesmanship throughout the day was fantastic. Well done to the both of you!

New England Titles Futsal Competition

We had five O'Connor teams playing in the New England Futsal titles at SportUNE.

Our 19s boy and girls team were champions and runners up. Our 15s boys team were also champions. Several players were individually selected to attend the School National Championships in Brisbane in September. Winning teams have qualified to participate in the Champions competition in Coffs Harbour in July. Well done to all participants today. You represented O'Connor with pride and grace. Well done!
