DPS Robotics

This week DPS students started their Robotics lessons with Code Camp.

We are pleased to report that all the students are thoroughly enjoying the experience! Stay tuned for more updates and insights into the amazing world of robotics as our young learners dive into this enriching and engaging learning opportunity.

What the Robotics program is all about?

Using the brand new Edison Robot V3, students will learn to code a robot and see their programming come to life.

Grades 1-2

Students in grades 1-2 will use EdBlocks, a fully visual programming language that uses simple drag-and-drop blocks. Students will dive in and use prewritten programs to learn about the machine's hardware and sensors. Then, they Implement simple visual programs with algorithms involving branching (decisions) and user input to complete a driving course.

Grades 3-6

Students in grades 3-6 will use EdScratch, a drag-and-drop programming tool with powerful functionality and versatility to explore computational thinking and sequential logic.

Students will learn about sequences, inputs, outputs and loops to write basic movement programs to make their robots ‘dance’. They will be challenged to write a program to complete a driving course, where they will use trial and error to debug their program.

Student Voice

Ariyan 4WB

I absolutely loved it! It was fun and we learnt to make robots from instructions on the laptop. I really want to continue working with my robot.

Sarah 4WB

It is so interesting and we are learning to function robots. We have had so much fun and we are actually learning at same time.
