VISUAL ART

In Visual Art our focus is on Wellbeing. Students are becoming more comfortable having a go, and making mistakes while learning new skills. Being perfectly imperfect. Being persistent when skills are difficult.

Prep: Students were learning about colour and texture. They each decorated a heart shaped magnet using paint sticks and various buttons and sequins. Students also drew unique patterns and pictures on fabric bags and presented them as a gift to their mothers at the special Mother’s day morning.

Level 1: Students were learning about mosaics. They learnt various watercolour techniques and created watercolour paper. Students then used the watercolour paper to create mosaic pieces to decorate a frame/ card for their mothers for Mother’s day.

Level 2: Students were learning how to create 3 dimensional shapes. They then made 3 dimensional vases and flowers for their mothers for Mother’s day. They also experimented with various shapes and patterns.

Level 3: Students were learning about shape, colour and texture while using air dry clay to create a hand print. They also learned about the way First Nations people traditionally used hands in their artwork to symbolize belonging and personal identity among other things.

Level 4: Students were learning about First Nations art and printmaking. Students drew inspiration from these artworks and then created their own stencil with an Australian animal being the focus.

Level 5: Students were learning about various clay techniques including joining. They were persistent while creating unique flowers using air dry clay.

Level 6: Students were learning about scale and line. The focus was the ANZAC day poppy. They each drew ¼ of a poppy and then the poppies were assembled to create an abstract representation.
