Canberra Camp, Term Two 2024
On the 22nd of April we started our journey by waking up at 3.30am, before heading to school at 5am in the dark sky, with tons of photos taken before we left. It was emotional saying goodbye to our parents and heading to the airport. At the airport we had tons of laughter and joy with our friends and teachers. After lots of card games and eating our snacks we finally boarded the plane at 8:30 am. The experience of the ride was incredible, even if it meant we didn't get to choose our spots. The first glance of Canberra for us was unbelievable, then we headed to our first stop, the High Court of Australia. We learned about the appeals against decisions of other courts. After that wonderful experience we headed to the next stop which was the Parliament House, this was a place where we learned about the Senate and House of Representatives. After enjoying a delicious ice cream we finally headed to our cabins where we unpacked our bags and got ready for dinner. The food was absolutely delicious because we had pasta and ice cream. We then headed out to the movies, where we got popcorn and drinks while we watched Kung Fu Panda 4. The first day was over! We were already feeling so lucky to have these experiences but also so tired.
The rest of the days we enjoyed going to places like Old Parliament House, The Royal Australian Mint, The Australian Institute of Sport, the National Museum of Australia, The Australian War Memorial, we even were lucky enough to experience and pay our respects at our first Dawn Service in Canberra at the War Memorial (this was really special) and of course we had a lot of fun at Questacon and iPlay.
Finally, the last day came, everyone packed their suitcases and said goodbye to our cabins, as we headed to Questacon. After two hours of fun, we headed to the airport and said our goodbyes to Canberra. Truly the trip of our life.
