John XXIII Rowing Club

Dear Families

John XXIII is excited to host IGSSA Regatta 2 this Saturday 11 May. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the parents, rowers, and families who have contributed by baking cakes, donating raffle prizes, and volunteering for various roles. Your efforts have been instrumental in preparing for what promises to be a fantastic day of racing.

Best of luck to our female rowers as they head into their second IGSSA Regatta of the season! On the morning of the event, a bus will depart from the school bus shelter at 6:00am, transporting rowers directly to Champion Lakes. For those not utilising the school transportation, please arrive at the venue by 7:00am for a quick briefing and to help with rigging the boats.

Please ensure you bring the following:

  • JTC racing zoot suit
  • College PE tracksuit
  • Water bottle
  • College sports bag
  • JTC Rowing/College hat
  • Socks
  • Healthy snacks (e.g., fruit, muesli bars)
  • Towel
  • Any personal items you may need (medications, inhalers, EpiPens, etc.)

All participants are expected to help with the pack-up process after the Regatta. If you have other commitments and need to leave early, please inform me and your coaches beforehand. The return bus will leave Champion Lakes at 12:30pm for the JTC Boatshed at Canning Bridge, where we will unload the boats. Your cooperation will ensure a smooth and efficient end to our day.

Rowers will be available for collection from the Rowing Shed at approximately 2:30p. We appreciate your dedication and teamwork and wish you the best of luck in your races!

Rowing training tops on sale

We have a limited number of blue training tops for sale in the Uniform Shop. Prices are as follows:

  • Short-sleeved training tops: $15 each
  • Long-sleeved training tops: $20 each

Rowers are able to wear their training tops to land training as an alternative to their school sports polo, so they are a great option to cut down on the weekly washing! They are also great under the zootsuits on the colder mornings. All proceeds from the sales of the tops will go directly to the club as a fundraiser, so even more reason to purchase one…or two.

IGSSA Head of the River Merchandise

Now is the time to order your Head of the River merchandise (as designed by Hosting School, Perth College) to wear and remember the big race. There are a number of quality items available for you to purchase (including hoodies, tracksuit pants, long-sleeve tops, shorts, visors, and beanies).

Samples (for sizing) will be available for viewing at the regattas.
