Around The Primary

Dear Families

Yesterday our Years 3 to 6 students participated in our Interhouse Cross-Country Carnival.  It was wonderful to see all the runners trying their personal best to complete the course.  Special thanks to Mr Williams for running the training sessions in preparation for this event and for coordinating this successful Carnival.  My thanks are also extended to all those who came along to cheer on the runners.

This morning, we warmly welcomed many mothers, grandmothers and mother figures to our Mass dedicated to mothers. This month of May is traditionally devoted to Mary – the mother of Jesus and today at Mass we gave thanks for the love and care of our mothers and the nurturing and love they provide.

Thank you to families and staff for their early rise to come together and celebrate as a community. My thanks are extended to our presider, Fr Edmond, Ms Allen & Ms Lumley for preparing the lovely Liturgy, Mrs Haydon and the choir for the beautiful singing, Mrs Blaauw for the amazing artwork, Mrs Petsos for coordinating the morning tea, and the wonderful team working behind the scenes in preparation for this event.

In class the students have been discussing the importance of families and I would like to share some of the Pre-Primary students beautiful (and funny) reflections on their Mums.

I love my mum because ….

she bakes for me. Daisy PGG

I have mummy and son days. Simone PPG

she lets me have ice-cream afterschool. Cressida PPG

she helps me ride my bike. Isla PPG

she lets me sleep in her bed when it’s nearly morning. Bernie PPB

she hugs me, and she puts me to bed. Violet PPB

she’s funny. Henry PPB

she helps me sleep. Seraphina PPB

We wish all families a happy day for this Sunday. It is always such a special time in the year where we can pause and show our gratitude for the many ways that mothers and mother-figures, light up our lives and those of children.

May those little rays of sunshine – your children – bring you great joy for the day, and for every other day of the year too!  We hope you enjoy this slide show for Mothers' Day.

Kind regards

In the Olden Days

On Tuesday, Year 3B visited the Claremont Museum where the students were taken back in time, to live like the people of the olden days! The students experienced what it would have been like to cook, clean and attend school in the past and even tasted some delicious scones made in a wood fire oven. Upon reflecting on the day, we discussed how various aspects of life has changed for the better, making us all grateful for the life we have.

The students had a fabulous day, filled with fun, laughter and learning!

Sport Update

Our Years 3 to 6 students had a fantastic Interhouse Cross Country Carnival on Thursday.  The conditions were challenging with strong winds whipping across the course, but the runners rose to the occasion.  It was impressive to see all the runners pushing themselves to complete the course as quickly as possible, and the support the crowd gave was incredible.  There were fantastic efforts and extremely exciting races, every runner should be very proud of themselves.

The top 8 runners in each of the long course events have qualified to represent the College at the IPSHA Cross Country Carnival on Friday 24 May at Guildford Grammer, information will be sent out shortly.  Training will continue in the lead up to the IPSHA Carnival, everyone is welcome at 7:30am, Tuesday and Thursday mornings, meeting outside the gym.

Every runner earned points for their House and the final standings were:
