Term 2 Physical Education Lessons

 

Prep

 

Students will be participating in units of Catching & Throwing and Gymnastics.  Students will continue to learn how to perform basic motor skills and how to move safely in space, while developing their understanding of boundaries and simple rules.

 

 

Grade 1/2

 

Students will be participating in units of Bouncing and Gymnastics. When learning about bouncing, students will develop their skills through partner, small group and modified minor games. In Gymnastics students will learn how to control their body movements in a variety of situations in order to develop co-ordination, balance, agility, spatial awareness, flexibility and muscular endurance. 

 

 

Grade 3/4

 

Students will be participating in units of Athletics, Invasion Games and Gymnastics. In Athletics students will develop the fundamental motor skills of running, jumping, leaping and throwing and then apply these skills in event specific games. When learning about Invasion games, students will develop their throwing, catching, bouncing, kicking and dodging skills while learning about maintaining possession of the ball and moving into space. During Gymnastics students will practiced springing and landing, static balances and supports and locomotion and rotational activities.  

 

 

Grade 5/6

 

Students will be participating in units of Striking & Fielding, Invasion Games and Gymnastics. During Striking & Fielding, students developed their throwing, catching and one and two handed striking skills while learning about the rules and tactical skills involved when playing cricket, tee ball, rounders and kickball. When learning about Invasion games, students will developed their throwing, catching and kicking skills while learning about maintaining possession of the ball and moving into space while working cooperatively with teammates. In Gymnastics students will practiced springing and landing, static balances and supports and locomotion and rotational activities.
