Year 10 News

Year 10 Work Experience

During Week 3 of this term our Year 10 students enjoyed a week of on the job learning during Work Experience.

Students experienced life working in a range of different industries and occupations from childcare and primary schools, hairdressing, joinery and cabinet making, electricians, plumbing, musicians and street artists to occupational therapy, neuroscience research, conveyancing, legal firms, landscaping, real estate and many others.

All students gained valuable insight throughout the experience, whether they loved the workplace they were engaged at or whether deciding the career they’d chosen actually wasn’t for them.

Many staff contacted or visited work places throughout the week and received excellent feedback about the students’ initiative, organisation and effort.

Some individual feedback received from employers is below:

Making Waves Occupational Therapy

“Harriet was an absolute joy to have around, she is mature beyond her years with a cracking sense of humour. She connected so easily with our team and had so much to contribute to our conversations around neurodiversity, we would happily have her back!”

From Jayco Caravans

“The feedback we’ve received has been outstanding. Every student consistently arrived on time, wearing their PPE, which demonstrated their reliability. They all came with a positive mindset, showing a strong interest in learning about both the company and the tasks related to electrotechnology. They demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills through their questions. Additionally, they adapted well to the work environment and were noted for their maturity. The Supervisor was pleasantly surprised to see them helping each other at the end of the day despite being in different areas of our Caravans factory, which reflects their teamwork abilities. Overall, it was a very successful outcome, and we hope Jordan, Jack, and Ethan enjoyed their experience!”

Well done on a great week Year 10.

Our next work experience block will take place in Week 5 of Term 3 (August 12-16).
