Musical Theatre Production MAP students see 'Wicked'

On Wednesday, April 24th, our Musical Theatre Production MAP class went to the city to see the musical ‘Wicked,’ to get ideas for our 2024 original musical, ‘Once Upon A High School.’ In term one, we began learning about the many different stagecraft areas needed to create a musical: Costume, Singing, Songwriting, Lighting, Directing, Acting, Choreography, Props, Stage Management, Make-up, Script writing, Promotion, and plenty more. We are continuing this for the rest of term two.
As Musical Theatre students, having the opportunity to see a professional musical before we begin to create our own original musical [in semester two] is a great opportunity as it gives us a different learning experience, especially for people who don’t get to see musicals often, as well as giving us a community experience to develop our social skills.
Before we saw the musical, we went to the National Gallery of Victoria, had a scavenger hunt with small groups, and collaborated to find the listed artworks.
The whole day was a wonderful experience, especially getting to know our peers just that bit better, forming friendships and a better social life inside the school, especially before working as a Production Team in the coming terms.
