Senior Theatre Production - NEXT WEEK!

At McClelland College, each year our Drama Department performs many spectacular shows. This year we (along with our very talented classmates) have the opportunity to perform in McClelland College’s Senior Theatre Production!

This year McClelland’s Senior Theatre Production is a short murder mystery comedy titled ‘The Desperate Housewives of Shakespeare’ written by Jane and Jim Jeffries and directed by Senhora Sproule with students from all six year levels involved.

Shakespeare has been manipulating and twisting their lives for six plays now, and they desperately want to escape his evil machinations. But are they desperate enough to commit murder? Shakespeare has been found dead: stabbed, poisoned, starved, choked, bitten by an asp, and even turned into a baardvark. Lady Macbeth, Juliet, Kate, Rosalind, Cleopatra, and Titania all had the means and the motive to kill Shakespeare, but who really did it? This comic tragedy (or is that tragic comedy?) has all of the action of a Shakespearean play but with none of those angsty monologues about the meaning of life.

Our performances will be held on Wednesday the 22nd and Thursday the 23rd of May. Both performances begin at 6:30pm in the PAC, and run for just under an hour.

Most importantly, the show is FREE!!! So be sure to invite any family and friends, we promise you’ll enjoy it!

Our spectacular cast includes:

Taylah Corkey as Lady Macbeth

Shreeya Prakash as Cleopatra

Lily Hosking as Titania

Makayla Doyle as Katherine

Emma McCleary as Juliet

Lia Velissaris as Rosalind

Lucia Venegas as Detective Tremblelance

Dom Chells as Lord Macbeth

And last but not least:

Two special senior guests

We also have an exceptional team of creatives, led by the exceptional Miss G, who’ve ensured the production is stage-managed and has all the necessary set, props, costume, lighting and sound. This team is: Skye Aspromonte, Elizabeth Clarke, CJ Engel, Ivy Ferra, Ruby Granger, Bella Neufeld, Tyrah Pocock-Davies, Jasmin Salah, Macy Shearer, Tara Smith and Kira Smith.

Additionally, VCE Theatre Studies is not running as a physical class at McClelland College, however one of our students, Lily Hosking (Year 12) is undertaking it online. The Senior Production imitates the process and tasks that those undertaking Theatre Studies as an elective would experience. Theatre Studies includes all aspects of theatre, with options for those who want to act, as well as a variety of roles in design, help out with set, makeup, lighting and so much more. We’ve all given up our time in the hope that those keen to study VCE Theatre Studies in the coming year [and beyond] can do so on campus instead of through distance. So come along and see if you too might want to enrol in the class in the future.

This year’s Senior Theatre Production has been such a fun experience! We've loved being amongst this amazing cast and crew and can't wait for you to come see ‘The Desperate Housewives of Shakespeare’ on the 22nd and 23rd of May!
