In the Spotlight

MICK MALECKI

I'm Mick Malecki, the gardener and groundskeeper here at OGPS. I love seeing the smiles on the students' faces as they roam around the grounds that I work hard to keep looking “schmick”. When I'm not tending to the gardens & grounds, I’ll most likely be traveling with my wife Leanne in our caravan or spending time with our beloved golden retriever, Buddy. Family means everything to me; I beam with pride knowing my daughter Mel is part of the office team, I'm honoured to call Mr. Jake Roberts my son-in-law and am proud to call their 3 beautiful daughters Ava, Mila & Isla (who also attend OGPS) my granddaughters. And let's not forget my son Reece, his lovely fiancé Hayley and their 6 children!

If you see me around the grounds, please come and say g’day!

ASH MORPHET

Hello! I’m Ash (or Mr. Morphet when I’m teaching). I have the privilege of teaching the amazing prep class known as FAM, and feel very lucky to be supported by amazing students, parents and staff at the school.

Here are some things that you may or may not know about me:

  • I have 2 kids (aged nine and three), 1 big dog and 2 teeny-tiny fish
  • I have a large collection of odd socks
  • I listen to music every day, play guitar when I can and love to dance at the OGPS concert
  • I run long distances and have a trail marathon planned for June
  • I used to play high-level hockey - my last game was captaining a Premiership with Geelong
  • I love to travel the world, eat spicy food, and fumble my way through foreign languages
  • I am intrigued by space, and will often look to the sky to watch satellites fly by
  • I used to make prosthetic legs and orthotic bracing for a living
  • I got my first taste of teaching when I spent 2 years in Sri Lanka teaching adults how to make prosthetic legs

I love teaching at OGPS!
