Reading & Playing Music

Classes from grades 3-6 have been learning to read notes on the treble clef and using that knowledge to read and play simple melodies on xylophones and glockenspiels. Last week, students worked out the notes in order to play 'Old McDonald':

Being able to read notes and locating them in the correct position on the xylophone takes practise and persistence. Everyone has been working hard on playing in time with their classmates and there is a noticeable improvement each time we play familiar melodies - it's wonderful to watch everyone's growth!

Xylophones have wooden bars and are usually larger than glockenspiels, which have metal bars or plates.
